Ruidoso weather is generally pleasant, year-round. Our winters are much milder than northern climates, although heavy snowfalls can and do occur and sometimes require 4-wheel drive and/or chains. Due to Ruidoso’s 7,000-foot elevation, our summers are mild and cool, even though heat waves and droughts can sometimes occur, bringing the risk of forest fires. Spring and fall are generally sunny and brisk with emerging greenery and brilliant foliage, and Ruidoso also has a rainy season, making it a true four-season destination.
We encourage you to bookmark this page and check back here prior to your stay at our Ruidoso cabins. We also advise being prepared for rain, wind, or snow, depending on the season. Due to Ruidoso’s unique location high up in the mountains yet surrounded in almost every direction by high deserts far below, storms can quickly roll into (and out of) our picturesque little village. Chances are you will experience fabulous weather during your stay, but it never hurts to be prepared!
