General Information and Policies:

Rocky Mountain Sports is located in the same building as the Condotel office, at 1103 Mechem Drive in Ruidoso.  It is open daily from 7:30am to 6:00pm during the ski season.  Winter guests of Condotel will receive a discount card in their check-in package.  This card allows a significant 20% discount on rental equipment and any retail needs for everyone in your group.  Please see the 2010-11 price list (above) for discounted pricing.

Rocky Mountain Sports is staffed with folks who “really know their stuff” when it comes to rental equipment.  They will help you make the right choices in size of skis or snowboard to make your day most enjoyable.  They will be sure that the boots fit properly and that they are correctly adjusted to the bindings.  There are no silly questions.  Ask them anything about snow play in Ruidoso and they will give you professional, knowledgeable answers.

When you rent for more than one day, your bill is not due to be paid until you are finished with the equipment. You will be charged for the equipment any days that you keep it.  Many enjoy the convenient use of the lockers at Ski Apache resort.  With just two quarters you can lock up your snowboard or your skis and poles in overnight storage, only steps from the slopes.  Also, skis are much shorter these days than they used to be.  They can usually be stored inside the car for easy transportation.  If a ski rack is needed, it will be provided at no charge.

Pants ($8), jackets ($10) and helmets ($5) are also available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Your 20% Condotel discount will also apply to these rentals.  Rocky Mountain Sports offers for sale a variety of socks, hats, facemasks, gloves, pants, jackets, snow boots, goggles, sunglasses, and accessories.

Ski Rental Reservation Form:

Guests of Condotel may use the reservation form to have equipment ready for their arrival.  Any questions about rentals or other services from Rocky Mountain Sports will be answered by calling 575-258-3224.  The reservation form is reccommended for use during the busy times such the Christmas to New Years holiday season and spring break in March.  The prices on the reservation form are retail.  The Condotel 20% discount is not reflected.

Winter wonderland on a powder day in Apache Bowl!

Stay at one of Condotel’s many large private homes, cabins or condos near Ruidoso around 7,000 ft asl – ski & snowboard at Ski Apache from 9,600 to 11,500 ft asl”. The drive is 35 to 45 minutes to the Ski Apache parking lot. Four wheel or all wheel drive is advised for the winter months. Chains will be required on 2 wheel drive vehicles when the road is snowpacked from a fresh storm, generally 10 – 15 times each winter – you just never know exactly when.

Ski Apache has invested millions into snowmaking and grooming equipment.  Even when the area does not receive a lot of natural snowfall, they can make great snow on trails for all abilities. Click here for current Ski Apache conditions!
